Our History
We exist to give glory to God and to provide a unique, tailored educational environment that helps students thrive at every stage of life.
1981 - Foundational Years as a Church-Only School
Calvary Baptist Academy began in 1981 as a school primarily serving church members and was initially located on San Antonio Street in New Braunfels, Texas, utilizing the self-paced ACE (Accelerated Christian Education) curriculum. In 1996, the school relocated to a temporary facility in Schertz to accommodate growth and changing needs. Two years later, in 1998, the Lord graciously provided over thirteen acres of property just outside New Braunfels, and in 1999 the school, along with the church, moved to its current location on Klein Road.
2007 - Adopting new models of education
In 2007, Calvary Baptist Academy expanded its educational offerings by adopting the Abeka curriculum, incorporating their high-quality video-based teaching materials into the classrooms to enhance student learning. Beginning in 2019, the school embarked on a deliberate journey toward resuming in-person teaching and significantly increasing student enrollment.
2022-2024
We experimented with several different models in order to maintain an affordable Christ-centered school that partnered with parents. We established a school board, and transitioned to a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization as part of its ongoing mission to make a meaningful and lasting impact in the New Braunfels community.
2025 and Beyond
Recognizing that the rise of technology and AI, along with increasing cost of living, there’s a need for small schools like ours to adapt to new and better ways of educating the next generation for Christ. In the 2025-26 school year, we are piloting a program of individualized instruction where students are taught by master teachers through video instructions with their own personalized AI agent helping them on their growth journey. In the upper grades, our emphasis is to teach.
Over the course of more than 45 years of dedicated school ministry, God has richly blessed the efforts of countless volunteers, allowing the school’s influence to grow steadily, reaching hundreds of families and students throughout its history.
